I finished my mystery socks! I chose the aran braid socks (like so many others) from KnitList. I did find the pattern without a picture, so I didn't cheat! These are a gift for my mother for Christmas. She has bigger feet than me, so I added some stitches. Now I'm afraid they are a little big! I used Fortissima Socka which is superwash wool so they won't shrink. Oh well...we'll see. She can always just wear them around the house! Here is the pair (on my feet, so they look really big):
I also just cast on for Coronet from Knitty. This will be a gift for my sister in law. Cute hat! I'm using Cascade Heathers. It's really a beautiful color. Kind of a periwinkle bluish/lavender. Hard to describe, but I think she'll like it! You work the cable braid around the bottom first, then pick up stitches to do the rest of the hat in stockinette. Should go pretty fast! Here's the beginning of it:
I'll be using Plum Wine for the main part with the Green Oasis as the trim. I think I will have enough in these two skeins to do two pairs! Opposite colors on the second pair. The first I make will be a gift for a teenager who has been dying for some of wrist warmers. She should be happy!
Ninety-Six days until Christmas (it looked longer typed in words than numbers)...guess I better get to knitting!
