Yoohoo! Bungalowmum! Er...Katie? What do you think of this yarn for your socks? It's Cherry Tree Hill - Foxy Lady colorway.
Pretty, isn't it? It's a little pinker than what I expected. I was hoping for a yarn with more dominant reds, but the pinks kinda take over. I hope that's okay! I started the sock and was really liking the pattern. However, this was happening:
You see it? That's a big blob of the rusts and browns spiraling around your sock. There's another one on the other side. Is this an issue for you? I'm not real excited about it, frankly. Unfortunately, my gauge is perfect and I can't fudge this pattern and add stitches in the hopes of eliminating the flashing. My option would be to try a different pattern with more stitches. Or...I just had another idea. I could try alternating rows, using the yarn from the outside of the ball one row and the yarn from the inside on the next. The yarn would be ready to pick up from the previous row, so I wouldn't have to cut at all, which means no weaving. Maybe that would eliminate this splotchiness. I don't have much invested in the sock yet, as you can see. (sorry! I got the yarn on Feb. 1st and cast on the 2nd...just in time for February Socktopia!)
Oh...just to explain what I'm talking about, I signed up at Knitty for the sock swap! Katie and I are making each other a pair of socks. Looky what she is doing for me! Pretty, huh? I got to pick out my colorway from her very own hand dyed yarns.
One last thing...I went to the Knit In last night at Gourmet Yarn and I've never seen such a crowd! I think the last count was 39. Wow....It was packed, and I got to meet a few new very nice people, (Hello Bethany and Lindsey!). To my delight everyone oohed and aahed over my one finished Pomotamus, but I have yet to get a decent picture of it. Maybe when I finish the second one, I can get a good shot of both!
