Shortly after my last post - way back in July - Mike and I went on vacation to Kansas City. After we got back, I jumped right into school with inservices and lots of work, work, work. Being a full time teacher is a little bit more than I expected! There have been many days - and several consecutive days - where I haven't knit a stitch. It's because I'm spending so much time grading and planning and just resting from all the effort that goes into teaching full time.
I'm not a brand new teacher, by any stretch. I've tutored and taught part-time for years, but this is my first year with a full schedule and being at school by 7:45 at the latest. I'm enjoying much of it, but am not happy how my knitting has fallen by the wayside. I've already informed my family they will NOT be receiving knitted gifts this year. I know there was some disappointment, but I figured sleep and sanity were more important.
During the past two months, there has been some knitting progress, however. I finished Hey, Teach! Sadly, I haven't had a photo shoot to show it off here yet. Soon. I also started on Eunny Jang's Endpaper Mitts. I love them! I'm using Knit Picks Palette in Golden Heather and Brindle Heather.
I'm just past the thumb on the second one, so there's not much left!
I cast on the Windowpane Coat from the Fall IK. I haven't done just a whole lot yet, but it is started! I'm using Galway Highland Heather in Dark Gray - a nice neutral color to go with anything. I bought that yarn at a shop in Kansas City. The owner and I took forever finding a color that she had enough skeins of. Finally, we landed on this!
I visited three shops and bought yarn at two of them. I also got the following:
This is Tove by SandnesGarn. I've never seen this yarn before, but it's going to work wonderfully for Brooklyn Tweed's Druid Mittens that are in the latest VK (the cover mittens). The color is more of an aqua/jade green.
Lastly, I found some Trekking Hand Art in the Tundra colorway and 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden Light - color #2030. I may make these mittens with the Noro.
Whew! I finally posted and I feel ever so much better. I promise it won't be two months again!
