In January, Nicole Masson, aka Stefanina on Ravelry, designed the Mystery sock for Sock Knitters’ Anonymous. She held a contest to name the sock and picked the winning name plus a random winner. She didn’t pick my name for the sock, but she DID pick me as the random winner! I got to pick out the yarn I wanted and she mailed it to me from Switzerland! She also sent me some yummy chocolate, and a cute pen and notepad set.
The yarn is Lang Jawoll Degrade. (There are supposed to be accents on the e’s, but I can’t figure out how to do it!)
I had planned to knit socks out of it, but I have been smitten with the extremely popular Revontuli pattern and how it looks it striping yarns. I couldn’t resist:
Pattern: Revontuli by AnneM (Ravelry ID)
Yarn: Lang Jawolle Degrade – 75% New Wool/25% Polyamid
100 grams/400 meters
Needles: US size 5; 3.75mm
Cast On: I don’t remember! I think it was somewhere towards the beginning of March.
Finished: March 25, 2011
Size after blocking: 30 inches from center back to bottom. 60 inch wingspan.
Deviations from pattern: I had to stop short and work the garter rows a section early because I was running out of yarn! I don’t have a dramatic picture of just a few inches left, but there’s only about 10 yards remaining – certainly not enough for another nine rows.
Tiger says, “I have stripes!”
