I released my latest pattern today! I am very excited about this one. It was technically challenging to write, but I think it turned out really well! I had seven wonderful test knitters who helped me find some errors and clarify the instructions to make it easier for everyone else.
Dark Passage starts with a two-color braided cast on. There are two videos available to help with the cast on. The pattern includes a photo tutorial as well. I tend to knit loosely and a few testers discovered that the cast on was just too tight for them. One came up with a modified version that includes the use of a second needle. Marianne made a short video using this cast on. It will help to practice my cast on first and then try out the modified version.
Here is my video:

The pattern continues after the cast on with corrugated ribbing. Then the two-color cable and the stranded pattern starts. Knitting a two-color cable is really quite easy, but looks impressive!
I include a table to customize the heel to your preferred length while staying in pattern. The gusset decreases are worked on the bottom of the foot and end with a 3 stitch stripe that is carried down the bottom of the foot.
If you are wondering about the title, I was inspired by a favorite movie! Dark Passage is a classic Film Noir movie starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. My husband and I love the Film Noir genre and Dark Passage is a sentimental favorite. Of course the sock had to be in black and gray! Also, can’t you just see Bogart wearing these pinstripes?
You can purchase the pattern for $6.00 by clicking below.

Tiger says, “Black and gray stripes! You got that idea from me, didn’t you?”

Those are very cool looking socks. I think Tiger approves!
