I’ve still been knitting away even if I haven’t been blogging about it. Now that it’s summer, I hope to do more blogging.
First, I finished up my Stripe Study using Tosh Merino Light. I’m glad it’s finally done! Garter stitch, even with short rows, is B-O-R-I-N-G. However, I do have a beautiful shawl to show for it.
The shape is asymmetrical because of the short rows. That’s what makes it an “interesting” knit. Sometimes though, those short rows were infuriating! I’d think I was almost done with a section, but NO! I’d have to turn and go back for another row.

Yarn: Tosh Merino Light by MadelineTosh in Rose and Dahlia.
Needles: US 6 – 4 mm.
Cast On: Sometime in February (I think)

My second shawl was knit entirely in June. It’s my Camp Loopy Project #1 for The Loopy Ewe. We were tasked with knitting using a yarn we’d never used before and the project had to use at least 375 yards. I bought Shalimar Breathless and it is an amazing yarn! Merino, cashmere, and silk…a divine combination.
The pattern was very easy to knit, but was definitely more interesting than Stripe Study. There are fun little “cables” to knit, an interesting edge, a small stockinette section, and a pretty lace section. I never completely memorized the pattern, but all I needed was a quick look each row and I was good. That’s perfect to keep me knitting without being bored because it’s too easy or without getting overwhelmed because it’s too intense. it finished with a picot bind off (bottom in the pic above) and it turned out very nice.

My Camp Loopy Project #2 is a little more ambitious. I bought Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd’s Wool Worsted in Great Lakes to make Rosamund’s Cardigan from Interweave Knits Fall 2009. This time, we had to choose a “popular” pattern and to use at least 500 yards. A pattern is considered popular if it had been knit OR queued more than 1,000 times. My choice meets both requirements and will easily use more than 500 yards.
